Arcade Bakery is kind of hidden in a building on Church Street in Tribeca and from the street does not look like it houses a bakery at all. Once inside there’s some seating, but it looked like most people take their food to go. They offer various sweets, breads, and coffee drinks.

A peek into the bakery:
They offer a few flavors of babka so we got one of each to try. Our rating scores above are based only on the Chocolate Walnut Babka as we’ll only be judging chocolate babkas in the rest of the category. But we had to try them all, for science or something? Below from the top going clockwise are Speculoos, Pecan Whiskey, and Chocolate Walnut. We did a pretty bad job taking photos of these, unfortunately.
The other flavors were pretty good but Chocolate Walnut was definitely the standout. These were all quite dense and they bled through multiple layers of paper bag so they were obviously very healthy. The Chocolate Walnut was nice and flaky, well-buttered and rich with chocolate. The walnuts were a welcome addition in both texture and taste. The others were enjoyable but our return trip will be for the chocolate!
Overall this is a good slice of babka and we’ll be trying it again – next time we’ll eat them at the counter inside!
