Ryan’s stroller fit next to the table we sat at without a problem. She slept for most of the time. She was awake for a few minutes and looked sad, but kept quiet.

by CHLOE is the mastermind of Chloe Coscarelli, who came to fame in the Vegan community after winning Cupcake Wars on Food Network ! She now has a little empire in NY with a number of locations of by CHLOE. They are extremely popular among vegans and Carnivores and have very accessible food. It’s basically healthy fast food that looks really appealing and is served up in adorable restaurants and packaging that is just made for Instagram.
The most recent location opened up in SoHo, so rather than wait in a line at the original location in West Village we went to this one which is so much quieter and roomier. Perfect for our gigantic stroller! And no need to hover over tables and stalk people to get a seat.
There was no one else in line when we got here and our food was ready pretty quickly. They offer cups for water along with housemade condiments, chipotle aioli and beet ketchup. They also have a roomy bathroom. The restaurant in general has a nice aesthetic, and all of the food has great preparation that is begging to be posted to Instagram. We are no strangers to by CHLOE and got our favorites, which just happen to be some of the most popular menu items anyway.
The quinoa salad has a lot of different components and Melissa loves it so much that she orders it almost exclusively when she’s here. There’s tomatoes, avocado, tortilla strips, soy chorizo and a quinoa blend atop a big bowl of salad greens, all topped with a lime dressing and crema. The soy chorizo really tastes like taco meat which is impressive! They don’t skimp on the avocado or quinoa, either, making this a very hearty vegetarian salad.
Rob got the Guac Burger, which he thought was really good for a meatless burger. It’s got some interesting toppings like guacamole, corn and tortilla strips, but it goes really well together. The wheat bun was really good. We also got their air-baked french fries, and they let you get a half and half to try both plain and sweet potato. The plain were a little overdone and were almost too crispy to eat, but the sweet potato fries were great. Their condiments are fun for dipping the fries into.
Since Chloe is known for her cupcakes we had to try one, since we somehow never have. Probably because we always end up getting her thin chocolate chip cookies that are the size of our heads…mmm. First, check out the cute packaging for the cupcakes:
These are called “Chlostess Cupcakes” since they are a take on Hostess cupcakes, and the look just like the real thing. I haven’t had one of those in decades so I can’t say for sure how close these are in terms of taste, but this version was pretty good. The top was a little hard but the filling was great. They also gave Melissa a sample of their hot chocolate, which is made with peanut butter and tastes amazing. She’ll be coming back just to get a full cup of that soon!
Overall, by CHLOE has become one of Melissa’s favorite places in the city when she’s in the mood for a meatless meal, which is quite frequently. Luckily it’s the kind of place where even Rob is happy since their menu really appeals to the masses. Definitely worth checking out, both for savories and sweets!
