General Comments:

Mikey Likes It is a tiny ice cream shop in Alphabet City with fun flavors that have very unique names. We’ve eaten here previously and they seem to operate on their own timing rather than their listed hours… as in, we came an hour after they were supposed to open when Melissa was 6 months pregnant and they were un-apologetically closed with no signage. This did not go over well with said pregnant woman. For this visit we came in around 1pm and luckily they were open, with 2 other customers inside. It was pretty cold day but we’re always in the mood for ice cream.

The guy working was super nice and let us try flavors, gave us huge scoops, and said he would make it picture-worthy after seeing us taking pictures of the walls. They have clocks on one wall that are shaped like celebrity/character heads. A lot of their flavor names are inspired by pop culture too, making the visit a fun experience.

They have 8 everyday flavors along with a monthly special and a couple of additional specials on a dry erase board. They also make milkshakes and waffle sundaes.

We split a double cone and upgraded to a waffle cone for an extra $1. We got one scoop of Foxy Brown, which was mocha ice cream with oreos and caramel swirl, and one of Dough Boy, cookie dough ice cream with cookie and brownie dough pieces. It was a huge portion of ice cream and both flavors were really delicious.

Both flavors had great texture, and were almost like velvet in terms of their softness. Our one minor criticism was that the Dough Boy could have definitely had more dough chunks in it, though the base had a good cookie dough flavor. Melissa really enjoyed the Foxy Brown since it was a nice fusion of chocolate and coffee flavors.

Overall Mikey Likes It is such a fun place, and makes some of the best and most inventive ice cream in the city. We will definitely be back, especially in the warmer months!
